Overview
Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil (sebum) and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and sometimes deeper, painful cysts or nodules. Acne most often appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders—areas with the highest concentration of oil glands.
